Lizzie Rose works from Argyll on the west coast of Scotland: a place of water, light, and soft changing forms. Nature is everywhere around her studio and in the hills she has climbed for many years. It is beautiful, powerful and fragile, a storybook of ideas that are brought into Lizzie Rose’s sizzlingly urgent works.

'I run, walk, clamber and explore place. I notice, connect and witness the ferocity, and also the calm, of this landscape. Reflecting a reminder of why we should care: how the wild nurtures and protects.

My art is rooted in the Romantic Tradition - the realisation of the enormity of the natural world and the importance of its existence: Nature not seen as a backdrop to a human drama, but as an instructing power which has a massive hold over our lives and of which we are a small part. A way of living, of seeing the world and of sensing the underlying unity between everything. The admission to feelings, of emotion, and the acknowledgement of the mystery and magic of existence.'
