What is truth today? Who is in charge of information? How do we save the planet? What is this tiny lettering that I can hardly read? Words become slogans and start to lose their meaning. It feels dangerous to question and scrutinise.
Historic stained glass windows, which have been repeatedly repaired using whatever scraps of glass are available, can take on a chaotic appearance with strange new meanings. In ‘X-Ray Eye’, multiple layers of sandblasted and engraved glass contain scraps of text and mysterious, hidden worlds. Two doll-like characters, Fire and Flood, are just two sides of the same story. My search for answers through politics and the press always creates an irresistible desire in me to return to the poetry of nature.
