Nicola Moss (b. 1960) is a sculptor, painter, printer and art medal maker who combines her visionary work with consummate craftsmanship. Moss belongs to a tradition of seeing that extends from rock carvings through the inner visions of William Blake, the symbolism of Alan Davie and the object making of Steve Dilworth. Much of Moss’s work comes from numinous experiences, when shapes, forms and languages work through her and into her work to show the divine. They are a way for Moss and us to connect to a greater world. Ancestral memory, nature and ancient geometries are never far away.
Moss studied at St. Albans and Canterbury Colleges of Art, later becoming sought-after in the world of art medal making. In 2005, she studied art and ecology at Schumacher College with tutors that included Peter Randal Page and Richard Long. Her work is in collections throughout the world including the British Museum in London.
