Rich narrative, bold colours and confident line make Alice Campbell’s work instantly recognisable. It often takes us to a pastoral folkloric scene, where food, wine and conversation are in full flow, and where plants and creatures radiate life and pattern. They are mythological places that I would love to inhabit, because they affirm the best of things.
“My work depicts surreal, other-worldly and rather playful imagery with a strong narrative art style running throughout. Through predominantly painting and printmaking, I enjoy inventing my own characters and surroundings, often with scant regard to the logic and order of the real world.”
Alice Campbell graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone Collage of Art (Dundee) in 2017 and now lives and works in Glasgow.
