PETER DAVIS: A Sense of Place

Overview
Most of the paintings in this exhibition are the result of walking the same Atlantic-facing walks in all weather. Peter Davis has trodden them so many times that the essence of sea and cliffs has become part of him. They follow him home at night and enter his dreams.
Meticulous care is taken with each painting: the walk of water and pigment across a sheet of paper, which, when dry, combine to become a whole. He pairs every controlled composition back, knowingly, to capture something simple and beautiful - the essence of a place known so deeply.
It is a joy to share with you these seventeen new paintings.
