Overview

Colin Brown’s exuberant new series of mixed media paintings respond to the work of 18th Century Belgian botanical artist Pierre-Joseph Redouté. Brown places an individual flower at the heart of each composition, combining found, drawn and painted elements with breath-taking skill. Begun prior to lockdown in March 2020, this prescient, life affirming body of work celebrates reconnection with the natural world.

Kilmorack Gallery is excited to share six new paintings from the Altered Redouté series in advance of a larger exhibition, coming later this year.
